Monthly Statistics August 2020 | UCITS and AIFs continue to record net inflows in August

The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) has today published its latest monthly Investment Fund Industry Fact Sheet, which provides net sales data of UCITS and AIFs for August 2020*.

 

Bernard Delbecque, Senior Director for Economics and Research commented: "Thanks to positive news on the global economic recovery, long-term UCITS continued to record net inflows in August, albeit at a slower pace than during the previous four months."

 

The main developments in August 2020 can be summarised as follows:

 

  • Net sales of UCITS and AIFs totalled EUR 30 billion, down from EUR 124 billion in July.
  • UCITS recorded net inflows of EUR 25 billion, compared to EUR 109 billion in July 2020.
    • Long-term UCITS (UCITS excluding money market funds) recorded net inflows of EUR 37 billion, down from EUR 50 billion in July 2020.
      • Equity funds recorded the same level of net sales as in July 2020 (EUR 13 billion).
      • Net sales of bond funds amounted to EUR 20 billion, down from EUR 22 billion in July 2020.
      • Multi-asset funds recorded net inflows of EUR 2 billion, compared to EUR 13 billion in July 2020.
         
    • UCITS money market funds recorded net outflows of EUR 12 billion, compared to net inflows of EUR 59 billion in July 2020 and a total of EUR 195 billion in April-July**.
  • AIFs recorded net inflows of EUR 5 billion, down from EUR 15 billion in July 2020.
  • Total net assets of UCITS and AIFs increased by 1.6% to EUR 17,638 billion.
