Role: Regulatory Policy Adviser, Management companies & fund product regulation
Place of work: Brussels
Basis: Full-time, unlimited period

We are currently seeking a Regulatory Policy Adviser who has relevant experience in the field of asset management, particularly in the regulation of asset management companies and/or products, to strengthen our regulatory team.
We strongly encourage candidates with prior experience at a national supervisory authority or central bank, as well as those with a background in, inter alia, private sector government/regulatory affairs, legal and compliance (incl. law firms), sales/distribution, or product design, to apply.

Key Responsibilities
You will be a member of the Association’s Regulatory Policy Team, which is responsible for the following:
- Monitoring developments in the EU and international regulatory landscape that may significantly impact the European investment management industry, and alerting members as soon as possible
- Analysing the possible effects of these developments, facilitating exchanges of views, and developing common positions among our members for advocacy purposes
- Engaging in a constructive dialogue with policymakers and regulators to represent our members’ views and promote sensible regulations for the industry while maintaining its global competitiveness
- Evaluating the outcomes of EFAMA’s initiatives, reporting the results to our members in a timely manner, and drawing lessons for future actions
- Representing the European asset management industry at conferences, in the financial press, and speaking at events
Your role will involve monitoring EU initiatives within your area of competence, with a particular emphasis on key EU regulations applicable to the asset management product sphere, particularly AIFMD, UCITS, and ELTIF. Familiarity with the EU Benchmark Regulation framework, as well as the Securitisation Regulation, is a significant advantage.
You will collaborate closely with EFAMA members and industry representatives to identify priorities, develop robust industry positions, and craft compelling narratives to inform and influence regulatory policy debates.
You will build and maintain a network of trusted relationships with EU authorities and other public and private organisations. You will engage with EU policymakers and regulators at various levels to represent the interests of the European asset management industry and contribute to inform the legislative debate.
Participation in various events to actively promote EFAMA’s viewpoints is also a requisite.
Requirements
- University degree in Law, European studies, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in the asset management field
- Demonstrated professional experience in the field of asset management companies and/or products, including aspects related to product design, (cross-border) distribution, use of benchmarks, etc.
- Ability to quickly absorb and synthesize complex information
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic
- Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation skills
- Native or near-level English speaker
- An understanding of the EU’s policy-making process and/or of the investment management industry is a distinct advantage

EFAMA is seeking a Policy Adviser with a focus on Capital Markets topics to strengthen its team. The candidate will have prior experience in an EU-based policy role within the financial services sector.
About the Responsibilities
You will join EFAMA’s Capital Markets and Digital Team.
You will monitor, analyse and engage on regulatory issues relating to trade and post-trade activities in capital markets. The role will encompass various aspects of the MiFID regulationand other regulations impacting fund managers in their capital market activities.
As a task force and working group coordinator, you will work closely with EFAMA members and industry representatives to identify priorities, develop robust industry positions and draft appropriate narratives.
You will build and maintain a network of trusted relationships within EU authorities and other public and private organisations. You will engage with EU policymakers and national regulators at various levels to represent the interests of the industry and contribute to informing the legislative debate, while participating in various conferences and events to actively promote EFAMA's views. More specifically, your role will consist of:
- Monitoring EU and international regulatory developments likely to have a significant impact on the EU investment management industry, alerting members at an early stage, while also providing initial analyses of such developments;
- Maintaining the interest and engagement of a very active group of experts through timely and well-run meetings, and the ability to identify key topics/areas that necessitate action ;
- Engaging in a constructive dialogue with policy-makers and regulators to represent the views of EFAMA’s members and promote sensible regulation and fair competition conditions for the industry, and participate in various events to actively promote the views of our industry;
- Building and maintaining a network of trusted relationships within EU authorities and other public and private organisations;
- Evaluating the results of EFAMA’s actions, reporting to members in a timely manner and drawing lessons for the future; and
- Engaging with the media to present EFAMA’s views, positions and activities (i.e. media interviews and speaking opportunities at events and panels).
About the Requirements
- Master’s university degree in Economics, Law, European studies, or other relevant area, with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience
- In terms of prior policy experience: either a good understanding of capital markets functioning and trade life cycle with experience within the asset management industry, OR broader financial services experience within a trade association setting or in an in-house government affairs role;
- Ability to quickly absorb and synthetise complex information;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Highly proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented, creative and enthusiastic;
- Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentational;
- Native/near native-level English speaker;
- An understanding of the EU’s policy-making process and/or of the investment.
