Monthly Statistics September 2020 | Steady inflows into UCITS equity funds in September

The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) has today published its latest monthly Investment Fund Industry Fact Sheet, which provides net sales data of UCITS and AIFs for September 2020*.

Bernard Delbecque, Senior Director for Economics and Research commented: Net inflows into UCITS equity funds remained steady in September despite concerns about rising Covid-19 infection rates and the potential impact of new lockdown measures.

The main developments in September 2020 can be summarised as follows:

 

 

 

  • Net sales of UCITS and AIFs totalled EUR 32 billion, up from EUR 30 billion in August.
     
  • UCITS recorded net inflows of EUR 12 billion, compared to EUR 25 billion in August 2020.
     
    • Long-term UCITS (UCITS excluding money market funds) recorded net inflows of EUR 19 billion,down from EUR 37 billion in August 2020.
       
      • Equity funds recorded net inflows of EUR 17 billion, compared to EUR 13 billion in August 2020.
      • Net sales of bond funds amounted to EUR 6 billion, down from EUR 20 billion in August 2020.
      • Multi-asset funds recorded net outflows of EUR 2 billion, compared to net inflows of EUR 2 billion in August 2020.
         
    • UCITS money market funds recorded net outflows of EUR 7 billion, compared to net outflows of EUR 12 billion in August 2020.
       
  • AIFs recorded net inflows of EUR 19 billion, up from EUR 5 billion in August 2020.
     
  • Total net assets of UCITS and AIFs decreased by 0.01% to EUR 17,638 billion.
