The next EU legislative cycle: what to expect for financial services

From 6-9 June 2024, EU citizens elected the new Members of the European Parliament. This heralds the start of a new legislative cycle, with many changes also expected at the European Commission. Various policymakers, supervisors, and other organisations had identified their priorities, including addressing competitiveness, completing the Capital Markets Union project, and furthering EU integration.

On Thursday, 24 April 2024 from 10:30-11:30 CET, David Reed, Senior Partner at Kreab Brussels, provided an overview and explained the possible ramifications for the following 5 years of EU policymaking. Over the last 20 years, he advised many of the world’s largest global financial institutions and their trade associations on European financial regulatory reforms, advocacy, and reputation building, and prior to that he worked in the asset management unit of the European Commission’s DG FISMA.
