Ilia Bekou joined the European Fund and Asset Management in March 2025. She is a Regulatory Policy Advisor coordinating the ESG & Stewardship Standing Committee work, mainly covering CSRD and stewardship policy.
 

Prior to joining EFAMA, Ilia worked at Polint consultancy, where she focused on the EU’s trade and sustainability policy, gaining valuable experience in areas of international trade practices, including procurement, due diligence, sustainable reporting, FDIs, and foreign subsidies. She has also been engaged with the EU’s defence policy, analysing the ongoing policy framework on procurement and funding for European companies. These provided her with a comprehensive view of the regulatory framework around ESG and the integration of sustainability practices within corporate governance.
 

Ilia holds an MSc in Crisis and Security Management from Leiden University. She received her BA in International Relations from the University of Macedonia, focusing on Political Science and Diplomacy. 
She speaks English, French, Greek, and Russian.
