U.S. elections ahead: Bracing for changes
As part of the "U.S. Regulatory Update" series, Dechert LLP and EFAMA hosted a webinar on Tuesday, 9 April 2024 (15.30-17:00 CET) to cover U.S. regulatory developments.
At the time, with the U.S. elections scheduled for 5 November 2024, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was under increasing pressure to deliver on dozens of proposals it had issued over the previous couple of years. The Commission had recently adopted the controversial Climate Disclosure Rules and was expected to make progress on similar rules for investment funds and asset managers, including proposed rules on liquidity management in open-ended funds, outsourcing by investment advisors, and safeguarding (custody) of client assets. These proposals were considered likely to have wide-ranging consequences for the European industry, as they could have restricted the ability of European funds to delegate portfolio management to the United States.
